The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that the team will host its Fourth Annual Prospects Camp here in Chicago beginning on June 30 and running through July 5. Currently 26 players have been invited to attend this year's camp. The Chicago Blackhawks will invite additional prospects that the club selects in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft that will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina, on June 26 and 27.
"We feel that it's vital to the Chicago Blackhawks organization to supply these young players with all the tools necessary to achieve their goal of reaching the NHL," said Chicago Blackhawks Assistant General Manager Dale Tallon. "Once again, the players will be housed together in dorms at DePaul University and will have an opportunity to get to know each other and what it takes to compete at the NHL level."
The camp will include both on-ice and off-ice sessions as well as opportunities for the players to get to know the great city of Chicago. The on-ice sessions will take place at Johnny's Ice House while off-ice training will take place at the United Center. The off-ice sessions will include fitness programs, nutritional evaluations and programs as well as psychological evaluations.
The camp will conclude with an on-ice tournament that is open to the public at Johnny's Ice House on Monday, July 5 from 9-11 am. Johnny's is located at 1350 W. Madison St. in Chicago.
